Archambault North America wins the Prince of Wales Trophy for the third year in a row...Archambault and it’s « A » serie yachts have been central to some constant but always top three winning boats during the past years in North America. Among them winning for the third year in a row the Prince of Wales Trophy at the Royal Nova-Scotia Yacht Squadron of Halifax NS - Canada… After the victories of Philippe Paturel at the helm of the A35 « Ciao ! » in 2008 and on the A40rc « Ciao !! » last year, this week end Jeff Brock and his crew won the 2010 Prince of Wales Trophy (POW) on board of the A40rc « Ciao Bella ! ». « It was a great 25 miles race with a constant breeze over 20-25 knots » said Jeff. « Most of the crew never sailed together on « Ciao Bella ! » but the chemistry was there and the boat was a rocket under these conditions ! » The POW Trophy is the most prestigious event of RNSYS since l860, the year the then Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII visited Halifax. A keen yachtsman himself, he presented the Club with the most treasured trophy, the Prince of Wales Cup. The Prince of Wales later added his name to the application to Queen Victoria to use the prefix “Royal” to the club’s name. In the A1 Class, Ann Acland’s new A31 « Anticipation » also won her class. « It seems to be a repeat of mid August Chester Race Week » said Ann. « It is really exciting to get the two Archambault leading again their respective class, these A-Boats are just great, easy to sail and so powerfull ! ». Congratulations to « Ciao Bella ! » and « Anticipation » for these outstanding results ! « Ciao Bella ! » was also test-raced in July, entering the 360 nm Offshore Race « Route Halifax Saint-Pierre ». Sylvain Barrielle and Philippe Paturel ended second in their Class when they were double handling the A40rc against fully crewed yachts. Next on the program for the Archambault North America Sailing Team is the Wenonah Cup in Halifax and later, the Rolex Big Boats Series in San Francisco where Philippe and Sylvain together with a local crew will try to get the A40rc « Ciao !! » and the RNSYS colours on the first steps of the podium.
