New Archambault 40 Only 77 Seconds From Top...Ciao! Finishes Acura Miami Grand Prix As Solid Runner-Up
MIAMI, FLORIDA (March 12, 2009) - 42 racing yachts have packed up and headed to their next destination after an exciting 2009 Acura Miami Grand Prix, and the captain and crew of the new Archambault 40rc “Ciao!” are proud of a strong performance in this prestigious regatta.
Ciao! Owner/driver Philippe Paturel received a beautiful crystal vase from Premiere Racing in recognition of the strong performance of his multinational crew. “Second place among these well-sailed boats was quite an accomplishment for us, and we all feel great about it,” Paturel said. “When we analyzed our race performance, we found that we only lost to the perfectly prepared and professionally sailed Soozal by a corrected average of 77 seconds - a deficit we believe we can easily overcome with a few months of racing and tuning this brand-new boat.”
Of course, competition isn't the only reason to be in Miami Beach in March, and the exotic-looking French raceboat looked right at home among the glitz of the marina. “South Beach had great weather, consistent breeze, and the kind of nightlife that made it famous, and I can't wait to come back,” commented foredeck hand crew Ann Acland, who recently ordered her own Archambault yacht. “The company makes a fabulous yacht, and I can't wait to sail mine soon!”
The next stop on the Archambault Yachts North American Racing tour will be the 170-boat Charleston Race Week, which will see Ciao! as well as another new A-40rc competing in the offshore handicap class. “Having both boats available will help us conquer the learning curve for both crews much more quickly,” said Alain Fedensieu, who will skipper Ciao! in Paturel's absence. “We have never raced in Charleston, but we are sure to have a great time and a big fleet, and we're very excited.”
